Whakarewarewa Forest - The Redwoods and Visitor Centre
Just 5 minutes drive from the centre of Rotorua is one of the Jewels in Rotorua's crown - the Redwood Forest and Visitor Centre. Beginning at the Visitor Centre are 6 well sign posted tracks which cater for a variety of fitness levels. Whether you wish to take a relaxed _ hour stroll or embark upon an all day walk it has something for everyone. Journey into the beautiful Californian Coastal Redwoods which stand over 60 metres tall. Admire these magnificent trees which are dedicated to the men and women of the New Zealand Forest Service who died in the 2 world wars. The tracks are suitable for pushchairs and most wheel chairs. It's a great day out for the family. Meander back to the Visitors Centre and browse through some of the lovely gifts available and relax and enjoy a picnic under the trees.
