Wai-o-Tapu (Sacred Waters) is New Zealand's most colourful and diverse volcanic area. Wai-o-Tapu consists of well over a dozen craters. Some formed by eruptions, some by internal chasms and a stunning display of geothermal features and unforgettable vistas. Experience the 'Artist's Palette' - a panorama of hot and cold pools, and steaming, hissing fumeroles. An amazing variety of ever-changing colours. Gaze into the 'Champagne Pool' - unique in the world, a fifth of a hectare of bubbling, hissing water, with a beautiful ochre-coloured edge. A 'must see' are the largest mud pools in New Zealand - violent and spectacular boiling mud and the Lady Knoz Geyser which erupts daily at 10.15 am reaching heights of 20 metres. Round off your trip with a stop in the 'Geyser Cafe' and souvenir shop.
