The history of this volcanic region combined with stunning scenery, crystal clear rivers, a huge lake and strong Maori culture makes it one of the most interesting areas for walking and hiking. Our guides can take you on interesting journeys through native forests, geothermal and volcanic areas, river tracks and historical locations. Walks range from 1 to 5 hours and are suitable for all levels of fitness. From the areas immediately surrounding Lake Taupo to the Kaimanawa Forest Park in the South-East, there are many and varied walks suiting all levels of fitness. Native bush, birds, beech forests and diversity of terrain provides a great 'ECO' experience.New Landrover Defenders 4x4's are used to transport groups of 1 to 5 people and mini coaches for bigger numbers. One guide to a maximum of 10 people. On full day excursions lunch and refreshments will be supplied for a small additional cost.Our guides will meet you at your accommodation and transfer by 4WD vehicle or mini bus to the start of the walk. They will have checked the weather forecast and will advise appropriate clothing for the day. Their knowledge of the history, volcanic activity, flora and fauna, legends and trout fishery is vast. Key points of interest will be described and any questions you may have can be answered along the way.Try the 'Walk - Cruise Combo' and enjoy a two hour guided walk through native bush to beautiful Kawkawa Bay, situated in the Western Bays of Lake Taupo. Here you will meet a boat and fish, cruise back to Taupo Boat Harbour (lunch optional). |
